We always knew that if we were getting married in Italy, Puglia had to be the place. For Ally, it’s been a lifelong favorite; Summers with family, swimming in the sea, cappuccinos and cornetti for breakfast, and Aperol spritzes at sunset.

She finally brought Anthony along in 2019 to experience it all for himself, and it didn’t take much convincing for him to fall in love too. Somewhere between the food, the family, and the sunsets, Ostuni felt like the perfect place to celebrate so here we are, and we’re so excited to share it with you.

Welcome to Puglia

Getting There

Fly

The Masseria is located right outside of Ostuni, and right in between two airports:

Bari International - best for international flights and a 1 hour car ride to Ostuni

Brindisi Airport - best for domestic flights and a 40 minute car ride to Ostuni

Drive

Whether you're driving from the airport or road tripping to Ostuni, I highly recommend having a car while your in Puglia

Taxi and Uber

Ubers/Lyfts are not really a thing, so don't rely on them.  Taxis are easy to find from either airport, but are quite $$$ and not as easy to find once you are in Ostuni.  I highly recommend getting a car for the ultimate flexibility to explore

Come for our wedding, stay a little in love with Puglia

Accomodations

You won't find massive hotels or skyscrapers in either Ostuni or Montalbano.  We recommend staying in smaller Hotels, Masserie, and B&Bs in either town.  Below are just a few recommendations to start your search

Puglia Pro Tips

1

Start Your Day the Italian Way

Breakfast in Italy is light and sweet, expect cappuccino + cornetto (croissant).

Pro tip: cappuccinos are typically a morning-only thing.  After lunch, espresso is the move.

2

Comfortable Shoes Are Non-Negotiable

Ostuni is full of cobblestones, hills, and winding streets. Cute shoes are great, but comfy shoes are essential. Your feet will thank you.

3

Slow Down , Like Really Slow

Things move at a different pace here, and that’s the magic. Meals are long and late, shops may close midday, and no one’s in a rush. Lean into it.

4

Carry a Little Cash

Many places take cards, but small cafés, taxis, and shops may prefer cash. Having a bit on hand is always helpful

5

Skip the Tourist Traps

If a restaurant has a huge menu, photos of the food out front, or someone trying to wave you in from the street… keep walking. The best spots in Puglia are usually simple, with shorter menus and handwritten specials.

6

Choose Your Gelato Wisely

Not all gelato is created equal. If the colors are neon-bright or the gelato is piled sky-high like a cartoon, it’s probably not the good stuff. Look for muted, natural colors and covered containers, that’s where the truly delicious gelato lives.

7

Pack Layers

Days can be warm, evenings cooler, especially in October. Light layers are perfect for sunset dinners and late nights.

8

Lastly, a Little Italian Goes a Long Way

Even just “Buongiorno,” “Grazie,” and “Per favore” will earn smiles. Italians truly appreciate the effort.
